The Academy is led by sera Adalyn, whose title is Dance Mistress.  She controls all aspects of the Academy.  Sera Sassy is her assistant, and shall have the power of the Dance Mistress when she wishes, such as during her absence.

Every member of the Academy will follow the direction and wishes of the Dancing Mistress, as they relate to dance and the Academy itself.  Unruliness or disobediance shall be grounds for disbarring. This is necessary to maintain order, as dance is an indistinct art, and the vast allowance for creative freedom will no doubt inspire exuberance.

In the Instructors, a full member has the title of Instructor, and has demonstrated, to the satisfaction of the Dancing Master or his chosen agent, the necessary basic skills not only in dancing, but also in teaching dancing to others.  Eloquence, succinctness, a full understanding of steps, and the ability to control a class must all be demonstrated.   A ser or sera who wishes to join the Instructors will be given probationary membership in the Academy as an Assistant Instructor, should they demonstrate a proficiency and familiarity with dance, and express the desire to join.

In the Troupe, a full member has the title of Troupe Dancer, and has demonstrated, to the satisfaction of the Dancing Master or his chosen Agent, a well-developed facility with accepted dance steps, as well as an understanding of the more subtle art of expressing emotions and concepts within a dance.  A Lead Ser and Lead Sera will be chosen, as many dances require such.  These positions will normally be filled by two most advanced and accomplished within the Troupe.  This may change during those periods when the Troupe practices or performs a Troupe Dancer's own creation, when that Dancer has the option of taking the Lead.  The Dancing Master will elect Lead Dancers.

It should be noted that it is possible to be both an Instructor and a Troupe Dancer, if one shows the aptitude for both paths.
Adalyn's Academy of Dance: What is it?

The Academy is a guild sanctioned by the Lord Chamberlain.  The purpose of the guild is to better the Guests of the Outer Bailey.  This is done by promoting dance as a proper art form and social vehicle.  The Academy is made of two parts, which serve the goals of the Academy differently.  One part will perfect and honor dance, the other will spread familiarity with dance to others.
(Everything here is IC unless stated otherwise)
The Academy has two parts, that each may focus on a method of furthering the Academy's goals.  The first part will consist of an organization dedicated to teaching dance to the Guests of the Outer Bailey.  This will be done by regular, open, scheduled classes, as well as by private tutoring, which will be available by request.  In addition, members of this part will meet regularly to discuss their teachings, past and future.

The second part of the Academy will focus on its members as artists, exploring and perfecting their art.  This will be done through discussion, experimentation, refinement, and private (and ultimately public) performance of dances.  This will allow for the promotion of dance not only within the community, but within the hearts of the dancers themselves.  It is this part of the Academy that will focus on researching, maintaining, and creating dance patterns and dance steps.
What are the Goals of the Academy?
The Primary Goal is to see every member of the Outer Bailey learn to dance.  This will be achieved through several means: teaching proper dancing to others, creating a formal setting for the creation of new dances, demonstrating the beauty of dance through performances, and opening an avenue whereby Guests might serve to entertain Her Majesty, Long may She reign!

Secondary and Tertiary Goals include providing for legitimacy and recognition of dance as perhaps the most sublime artform and social necessity, as well as increasing the refinement of the Outer Bailey by adding to the communal understanding of social intercourse through dance.
What is the Structure of the Academy?
How Will the Academy Achieve its Goals?
One does not need to be a member of the Academy to attend its classes.

Membership will only be granted by the Dance Mistress  An applicant wishing to join the Academy must display talent, understanding, dedication, and desire appropriate to the guild.  Applicants may be accepted based on recommendations by Pupils.

Every month, in order to retain membership, an Instructor must teach at least one class, or else hold two private lessons.  In addition, every Instructor must attend at least one Instructors Meeting.  Likewise, a Troupe Dancer must attend a Troupe Meeting/Practice.  A Troupe Performance will be counted towards this requirement, if necessary.  Troupe Dancers should perform at least once yearly.

In addition, every member of the Academy must at all times behave in a manner that will not reflect poorly on the Academy.
What are the Requirements for Membership?
How does one join?
Contact Dance Mistress Adalyn or Seconda Sassy, either in person or by scroll, stating intent to join.  Anyone with the love of dancing is strongly encouraged to join in making dancing a presence in the Outer Bailey.  All will be considered fairly.
